I taught myself to play guitar at age 12 [now 59] and have owned several acoustic electrics, including Takamine , Ibanez 12, Yamaha, Ovation balladeer 12etc.. My planned upgrade from my 1979 Takamine Ec-128 $225.00 to Takamine EC-132sc ,$1200 plus ,[the instrument of choice of the spanish guitar pros on the hotel/bar circuit in the Miami area] was derailed when by accident I came across this incredible value for money beauty. Originally attracted by the physical beauty of this model, hanging on the wall amid the $199 to $350 yamahas and Ibanez's, I couldn't believe the sound that came out of this laminated wood , made in China with an Italian name copy of the big boys. A guitar has to inspire me with it's sound to want to play it and this one did that and more.Wide neck, low action without any hint of buzz ,perfect octave at the twelth fret, this is the perfect gift for the parent who wants to get their child a great instrument at a low price or even for the semi-pro homerecording dilettante connoisseur of the finer things in guitars like myself who can't really justify spending over $1000 to mess around occasionally or playing at the local coffeehuse on open-mike night. I would put this model, at least the one I played, within 20% of the sound quality of the $1200 Takamine and way better than most of the $300 to $700 guitars .Excellent sound when amplified also. You can buy this one online sight unseen and be sure that for $99.00 you will be very happy.
